Washington DC August 1st 2005
We had just arrived in Washington and the adrenaline as well as nerves , had just kicked in for all of us.

Arriving in Washington DC, we had our Fulbright orientation meeting. It was
over 100 degrees but Pamela and I (another exchange teacher), braved the heat
and went sight seeing. I was surprised at how close we were able to get to the
White House.
This is a view of the Washington Monument and The Reflecting Pool (and me!), from the steps of The Lincoln Memorial. It is also where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood and made his famous, "I have a dream' speech in 1963. There is a carving on one of the steps, marking the location where he stood. I stood on the step and thought of my dream too..
