The Way To Amarillo!! Texas

Rodeo School: these guys are actually from the Agricultural School/university and are doing a degree in rodeo! This was part of their studies!

Driving back from the Canyon. These views were so inspiring-such a special moment-seeing the sun set over the far horizon. Spectacular.

Palo Duro Canyon - the views were stunning as the sun was setting.

I was a little exhausted when we reached The Lighthouse!

This is the Palo Duro Canyon, Spanish for 'hard wood'-this is the second largest canyon. The monument at the summit is called The Lighthouse. This was a spectacular 6 mile hike-it was quite spiritual.

LOVERBOY

Trailer Trash!

I always wanted to be a groupy (even if it was for a band that I had never heard of until my arrival in Amarillo!)

The "Loverboy" gig. This was so much fun, I though I was at a fancy dress party (with all the cowboys!)! I was also fortunate enough to personally be given the drummer's stick!

'Cadillac Ranch', this is a famous display by a local artist: Stanley Marsh. The thing to do is to to graffiti over one one of the ten cadillacs that have been buried in the Amarillo plain. It is by the I40 which use to be the original Route 66.

This famous artist also has these signs all around Amarillo, with no objection from the locals!
He was a nice "chap"!
Cutting Horse Finals

The aim is for the cowboy to pinpoint one cow in the herd and 'cut' it out from the rest, making sure it doesnt get back to the herd before the buzzer goes, very skillful and only the best trained horses can do it.

We headed straight for 'The Cutting Horse Finals', this is where the true cowboys hangout!

Arriving in Amarillo airport, we were fortunate emough to be on the same plane is 'Loverboy' (a famous 80's rockband)- who were playing that same night at a sell out gig in Yorks bar. Us English girls managed to get tickets !!

We headed straight for a big juicy steak next to the Livestock Cattle Auction which goes on every Tuesday, I didnt bid for any cattle as I thought it would be difficult to get a Hereford on the plane back to Wenonah! Roaming cattle seemed to add flavour to my fillet steak!

My beautiful flowers

Amazing children. Truly. I have never taught such a loving, appreciative and well mannered class before. They have opened their hearts to me, I love them to bits. Going into work and seeing their smiley faces everyday, is a pleasure. They are just magical - with the cutest accent! I'm not looking forward to leaving them in June, at all. I have learnt a huge amount- teaching in America. I have my school and class to thank for that.

Winter Wonderland ...

February 12th and the snow has finally arrived -at least 12inches of it! Wenonah looks so picturesque, I absolutely love it. Of course Uncle Bob came to the rescue , he's taught me how to shovel (the only way, if I'm to get out of my driveway), it was soooo tiring!!!
