AlcatrazArriving at the island is extremely eerie: cold, windy, foggy, spooky, you really do get a feel for the place and what it was like-very informative tour.

Alcatraz is Spanish for 'Pelican' as these birds were the only inhabitants of the island.
The island served as a military fortification in the 1850's and it was in 1934 that it became the maximum security prison-until 1963.

Talk about depressing. All the other photos are full of life and laughter and... guys and booze!
These remind me of some of the dodgy accomodation i have had to stay at.
